About AVaKE Network
This is the portal to the community and network AVaKE – Association for Values and Knowledge Education“. AVaKE is our network where teachers, trainers, students and scientist can meet and interact with the VaKE team and with each other. It is a platform for sharing experience and ideas. Furthermore, it offers support and supervision as well as access to special material, projects and trainings to its members.
Who We Are
We are an international network of teachers, trainers, researchers and students being connected by the idea to stimulate the ability to reflect on the attitudes and values that underlie our decisions and incorporate factual knowledge. We think that using the didactical approach VaKE is a very viable way to follow this mission.
You will find our members in many nations, e.g. Austria, Australia, France, Georgia, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Norway. Our members work in schools, in youth clubs, in kindergarden, in colleges and universities, in vocational trainings, etc.
What We Do
In their practice our members are dealing with a huge scope of thematical issues related, e.g. to curriculum, transdisciplinarity, multilingualism, inter- and transcultural communication and understanding, civic education and active democratic citizenship, social integration, intergenerational conflicts, lifelong learning, conceptual change.

Prof. Dorit Alt – Research area: Competency-based learning, lifelong learning skills, technology-based learning, moral education.
Prof. Alt serves as the dean of the Faculty of Education and Instruction at Tel-Hai College in Israel. Her area of expertise lies in the development, implementation, and evaluation of future-oriented, technology-enhanced, competency-based learning environments. Her research focuses on teaching, learning, and assessment in the information age, with a view to developing lifelong learning skills that encompass cognitive, intrapersonal, and interpersonal aspects. Central to her studies is the design and evaluation of innovative learning environments that aim to enhance learners’ abilities in achieving personal well-being, social sensitivity, and economic and occupational prosperity amidst social and global changes.

Panagiota Christodoulou

Panagiota Christodoulou, is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Primary Education, University of Western Macedonia, Greece. Her Ph.D. examines whether a Socially Assistive Robot can promote conceptual change in science education for children and adolescents. She has been engaged as a project manager and junior researcher in research projects at National and European level (e.g., ARISTEIA, Erasmus+, HORIZON 2020). She has been a member of the European Association for Research in Learning and Instruction (EARLI) and a Vice Secretery of the AVaKE association (2020-2022, 2023-2025). She has been a member of the International Organising Committee of the EARLI JURE 2021 conference. During STIMEY project (709515), she has been engaged in the participatory co-design and development of an online learning platform, which integrates social media, entrepreneurial tools, serious games, radio and Socially Assistive Robotic Artefacts. During Think4Jobs she has been engaged in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of Critical Thinking blended apprenticeships curricula for Higher Education in collaboration with the labor market. She has been engaged with VaKE during her bachelor and master studies investigating how VaKE can be implemented in primary education settings as well as how the conceptual change theory approach can be applied in VaKE.
